Twenty twelve gold

In July 2005, to the delight of the nation, the International Olympic Committee announced that the 2012 Olympics are to be hosted in London. Lord Coe said: “This is just the most fantastic opportunity to do everything we ever dreamed of in British sport.” I have one of those dreams - to compete and represent Britain in the discipline of Archery. This Blog records my progress of my attempt to compete at archery in the 2012 Games, having no prior competitive experience.

So you don't think I can do it right? Why not make a bet at poserfish.com with odds that I cannot refuse?

Using my new kit

After announcing my reluctance to fit all my new kit, I received an email from Mick advising me to just go for it. I had several members at my club last Saturday tell me the same thing. So I did it - new limbs, new arrow rest, new string and new stabilisers.

The G3 limbs are sweet. I’ll post up photos of my new kit soon. As it turns out it seemed to be great advice - on Sunday in the wind and rain I top scored at our Frostbite session beating some seasoned archers.

For sale: used Sammick wood core limbs, medium lb34. In good condition with quicks limb covers. Open to offers.

Last night at our weekly indoor session I went off the rails a little bit by scoring 233 in our Worcester league. That’s disappointing after the 260 previously!

By the way the results for Surrey county Indoor are in - I came 32nd out of 59 which I'm really pleased about. Now - do I enter the nationals at Lilleshall and hope to get into the 32 cut for the head-to-heads...

Think you should go for the Nationals it all adds distance and direction and even if you shoot for the stars and hit the moon its another good step on your amazing journey

"First My advice are to get Ki Sik Lee's book it is awesome" For a mere £32 it would have to be! :) Hopefully our club library will get a copy, and we can borrow it.

Nick, try advertising your old gear on the AIUK forum - there's usually someone there looking for a trade-up. My old Samick limbs went within a week to someone on there.
    cheers, Andrew
